The English Lady | Themed Photoshoot Featuring Jessie

Those of you that follow my work will know that I absolutely love to create themed photoshoots. You will probably also know that I do this on a very low budget, in a small space at home which barely deserves the title ‘home studio!’ That being said, don’t let limitations of space or budget get in the way of putting together an interesting concept…….it’s a challenge I always thrive on!

I’d put out a last minute casting on Instagram as I had a little free time and when Jessie Jayne answered the call we got to work creating concepts. I quickly put together a shared Pinterest board and discovered from my communication with Jessie that she has a horse, which she looks after every day. Well, this knowledge gave me the inspiration for an edgy, equestrian styled concept. We teamed a pair of jodhpurs with a tailcoat tuxedo jacket and some killer thigh boots and boom, we were in business.

The concept is a juxtaposition statement……..English Lady in country attire with a heavy dose of attitude and ink!

I loved the way it turned out.

For lighting, we used a Godox AD360 in a 120cm gridded octabox to the left of Jessie (camera left) and a speed light in a gridded strip box behind her and angled back at 45 degrees.

Backdrop is my trusty painterly cloth backdrop from KateBackdrop which was really cheap and has proved extremely effective in my work.

The only other prop used is a rickety old dining chair which was free on Facebook Marketplace!

Hopefully you like the images and found these insights into my photoshoot process useful.
